Who We Serve

Communication strategy for every profession

The mechanics of asking the right question, listening for what matters, and turning conversation into reliable information are the same whether you are investigating a homicide, conducting an HR matter, deposing a witness, interviewing a student, or evaluating a recruit. We train all five.

The ASC Difference

Old methods cost you. New methods deliver.

The Old Way
Confrontational interrogation tactics that produce false confessions and get thrown out of court.
Rigid scripts that fail the moment a witness or subject goes off-book.
Reliance on body language myths debunked decades ago by research.
Training that checks a box but does not build real competency.
Tactics that win the room but lose at suppression.
Limited to one professional context.
The ASC Way
Non-confrontational, evidence-based techniques that produce reliable, court-ready information.
The Adaptive Strategies Compass™, a navigational framework that works in any conversation.
Behavioral science-grounded observation that is actually predictive and useful.
Immersive, scenario-based training that builds real, field-ready skills.
Methods built to withstand the courtroom, not just the interview room.
A unified communication discipline that adapts across every investigative profession.

Our Methodology

Four pillars of exceptional interviewing

01

Rapport First

Every reliable interview starts with genuine human connection. We teach professionals to build rapport that opens doors no pressure ever could.

02

Strategic Intent

Every question has a purpose. Our training replaces reactive questioning with purposeful, evidence-based strategy at every stage of the conversation.

03

Adaptive Execution

No two interviews are the same. The Adaptive Strategies Compass™ gives professionals the tools to adjust in real time, without losing direction or purpose.

04

Defensible Results

Every technique we teach is designed to produce information that is accurate, credible, and holds up under legal and ethical scrutiny.

About the Instructor

Joseph R. Auriemma, Jr.
INCI · CFI · Polygraph Examiner

Joe Auriemma is a nationally recognized expert in investigative interviewing and strategic communication with more than 24 years of distinguished law enforcement experience. He retired as a Senior Investigator with the New York State Police, served 17 years in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and ran the room where state troopers were taught as a lead instructor at the NYSP Academy.

At ASC, Joe is the architect of Teach to Talk® and the Adaptive Strategies Compass™, proprietary frameworks that shift the focus from compliance training toward genuine competency and higher-quality decision-making.

His methodology was forged in the field, anchored by his work on the Nunez homicide investigation, the case that still grounds his training today. He is the author of multiple field manuals on investigative interviewing and search warrant practice, and his published work and features have reached audiences across law enforcement, legal, and professional communities.

The Case That Built the Method

Seven hours across a table. A jury that never saw the interview. A methodology built so it never produces this result again.

In 2011, a homicide investigation in upstate New York hinged on a long interrogation with the prime suspect. The court suppressed most of it. The jury acquitted. The standard accusatorial methodology I had been trained in produced exactly the result it was statistically likely to produce.

Teach to Talk® and the Adaptive Strategies Compass™ are what I built in response. Not a refined version of accusatorial work. The alternative to it.

Write warrants the way a court reads them. Precision Search Warrants.

Suppression motions are won and lost in the affidavit. Most are lost because of patterns the affiant did not see coming.

Precision Search Warrants is built from over 1,500 warrants authored across a 24-year investigative career, and from the case law that governs every paragraph. It is the only course of its kind taught by the author of The Affiant's Standard, a 50-state search warrant manual series, and it is designed for the people who have to defend their work at a suppression hearing, a Franks hearing, or on appeal.

The course also draws from Joe's investigative work on the Brandyn Foster homicide. That case contributed to Google's introduction of the Tombstone Report and reshaped how investigators draft search warrants for digital and cloud-stored evidence.
